Activities

To accomplish its goals, the National Fund for Workforce Solutions will engage in a number of intermediary activities. It will:

  • Aggregate human and financial capital from the private, philanthropic, and public sectors;

  • Expand the number and deepen the impact of funding collaboratives that support workforce partnerships;

    • Make grants to regional funding collaboratives

    • Nurture the development of new regional funding collaboratives

    • Assist local and regional collaboratives in developing local funding for workforce partnerships

  • Document the impact of workforce partnerships;

    • Assess, research, and evaluate workforce partnership outcomes for businesses, workers, and regions

    • Disseminate lessons learned from regional collaboratives and workforce partnerships

  • Develop standards for high-performance workforce partnerships and increase support for efforts that meet those standards;
    • Provide technical assistance to regions with ongoing partnership efforts

    • Link those regions into a “national learning community” to help each region improve its performance

  • Demonstrate effective approaches to increasing the scale of effective workforce partnerships;

    • Distill this information into useful lessons and tools for the broader field of workforce development

    • Communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, including national and nonprofit organizations, the public sector, business, labor unions, and the general public, about the value of workforce partnerships and funding collaboratives, as well as tools and other resources for creating and sustaining them

  • Establish a basis for sustainable financing for workforce partnerships.

The Fund will directly support 30 to 40 local and regional collaboratives, which will demonstrate the value of aligned funding for workforce partnerships. In the process, they will promote changes in workforce development public policy.
